About Fleurs de rue
Established in 2016, Fleurs de rue started out as the only street-florist of its kind.
Combining our French heritage with our love of fresh-cut flowers to create Fleurs de rue or ‘street flowers’. Sold from Tamsin, our flower van, the jewel in our crown, based in Stroud, Gloucestershire you can find us outside The Subscription Rooms, one of Stroud’s oldest & most prestigious buildings.
2017 saw Fleurs de rue open it’s second shop having been approached by national garden centre chain, Dobbies, in the Cotswold town of Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
The Fleurs de rue team
Tamsin, our flower van, is 51 years young! An original Citroen ‘H’ van, Tamsin’s early years were spent helping to rebuild a post war France. A stout, reliable work horse, the H vans were used for a wide range of services, from farming to fire engines, to bakers vans and ambulances.
Beautifully simple in both design & engineering, there were no jobs these vans couldn’t undertake & were soon found in similar roles across much of Western Europe.
Imported on to British soil in 2010, Tamsin has seen few changes from her original features, with her body, engine & fittings all still remarkably well kept in near authentic condition. (We must admit, the tyres are new!)
With a lick of paint & a side hatch to welcome her customers, Tamsin has been reinvented as the perfect Fleurs de rue hostess and an unmistakable landmark of Stroud.
Dan first started working with flowers in 1999, making hand tied bouquets for a wholesaler for distribution across the South West.
Introduced to floral market trading in 2001, Dan instantly took to the job & found it combined his experience in tying bouquets, with his love for being outdoors & interacting with people.
2002 saw Dan take on the full time running of a pitch in Bath where he steadily built the pitch up to see more custom than it had ever previously known.
Whilst still running the Bath site, Dan completed a landscape gardening qualification, with a view to widening his skill set in all things green. 2006 however, saw a big shift in Dan’s career as he looked to pursue his childhood dream & joined the Royal Marines, where he served around the world for nearly 10 years.
Now settled back in Stroud & with a young daughter, Tamsin, Dan has returned to the flower industry to immerse himself in something which he has always loved.
Dan & Mike have worked alongside each other as friends & colleagues for over 17 years & are proud to be bringing Fleurs de rue to the people of Stroud & its surrounding areas.
Working in the flower industry for nearly 25 years, Mike started out as a Saturday helper on Stroud’s original flower stall. After a few years, Mike took on a different pitch in Bath town centre.
Mike has an inherent passion for working with flowers and has built up a tremendous range of skills throughout this time. As our Head Florist, Mike’s extensive experience in wedding, memorial and occasion flower creation means he is able to guide and advise our clients to create the perfect floral designs. There’s not much he can’t turn his hand to where flowers are concerned!
The newest member of the Fleurs de rue team, Zara, is an extremely skilled florist, having studied at the British Academy of Floral Art.
Her passion is flower – having won a number of awards at national floristry events, and travelled across the channel to visit the world-renowned flower markets of Holland.
An experienced wedding, memorial, and occasion florist, Zara’s skill set makes her the perfect guide when it comes to designing and creating specialist arrangements. She’s also designing a number of our pre-tied bouquets too!
